Congratulations to Tom Rhodes who finished 2nd place in Intermediate at the US National Aerobatic Championships in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, September 23rd-29th! He was the lone representative for our chapter..and state!
This is the first time the competition had not been held in Texas since 1968 (except for one year when it was held in Mesa, Arizona in 198)! From 1968-1971 it was held in Oak Grove Airport in Fort Worth, until it was moved to Grayson County, now called North Texas Regional Airport, in 1972.
There were 92 competitors, 75 powered and 17 gliders. Unlimited had 11 powered; Advanced had 25 powered and 3 gliders; Intermediate had 17 powered and 6 gliders; Sportsman had 14 powered and 8 gliders; and Primary had 8 powered competitors.
