Treasurer:

Tony and Julia Wood presented a guest, Mrs. Jean Paryl, who works under Charles Schwab at the Southlake, Texas branch. Jean was nice enough to take her time to come and explain some of the finer points of the CD, it’s structure, and what some future financial options for Chapter 24 might be. Along with this discussion was the possibility of using some of the money Chapter 24 has in the bank to consider the purchase of the Super Decathlon aircraft, as a “club” aircraft that could help to foster new competitors and allow members to gain access to a safe aircraft for competition use.

Daryle will continue in his present position representing Chapter 24 as Treasurer.

Accounting Schedule:

Cash on hand-$8,401

Schwab-$74,320

Lone Star Championships 2018:

It was agreed to have the contest the weekend of June 22-24, 2018.

The Contest Director for the 2018 championship will be Curt Richmond. Curt asked for considerations for Assistant Contest Director, and two or three members were able to fill that role. Curt wanted to talk with each person separately after the meeting to working out details and will report on an official ACD at a later date. Communication with ATC, and US Aviation Flight School at KGYI was discussed as an early point of interest to help facilitate the contest and make sure things run smoothly.

Judges School – Frontiers of Flight 2018:

Chapter 24 plans to put on a judges school February 24-25, 2018 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field. The classroom has been reserved, and Tony Wood discussed the informative nature and benefit of attending the school and the information that is covered. Tony informed the membership that if you are renewing as a judge, you can cover the day 1 information on the IAC website, and attendance for only day 2 is required.

Super D Tango 2018 – Akroville:

It is agreed to have our Super D Tango contest on July 14, 2018 at Akroville. Work needs to begin early on securing several Super Decathlons for the contest. The previous aircraft that have been generously provided by Four Winds Aviation may not be available this year. It was briefly discussed that Chapter 24 would purchase a Super D and lease it to preferred clients.

Tom Rhodes agreed to be the CD for this contest. Entry fee is $200

2018 Nationals:

It was voted approximately 48 hours prior to the meeting that the 2018 US Nationals will return to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The majority of membership reacted unfavorable of this decision due to the difficulties that existed last year and the length of travel in order to attend. Curt discussed the changes that they hope to make in 2018, and since the vote is so fresh, further information will be upcoming.

Fellowship:

It was discussed by Tony Wood how we are as club can reinstate a better atmosphere of camaraderie and active membership. Tony discussed some activities and gatherings in the past that brought Chapter 24, and the aerobatic community as a whole together on more of a regular basis. All were encouraged to communicate and post different opportunities including fly-days, practice, or just fun hanger flying with a cold drink.
