March 2, 2015

Air show performer and former ICAS Board member Jan Collmer passed away January 13, 2015 at his home in Dallas following a brave battle against a rare blood disease during the last several months. A well-recognized and popular air show performer, particularly in and around his home state of Texas, Collmer flew jet fighters with the U.S. Navy before beginning his air show career in 1978. He performed more than 1,000 times at 400 different air shows during the last 35 years.

“In a business with more than its share of success stories, Jan stood out as a gifted aviator, successful businessman, southern gentleman and devoted family man,” said ICAS President John Cudahy. “He lived the life that we all aspire to.”

Jan was a member of LSAC and will be greatly missed.

A beautiful memorial service for Jan was held on Monday, January 19 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas, followed by a lovely program at the Frontier of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field.

Memorial gifts in Jan’s honor may be made to the Jan Collmer Education Fund administered by the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas.
